On January and Februrary

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages, welcome to the first blog post in roughly twelve years (or three months; time is relative)! Did you miss us? Excellent. We missed you, too. It's been a rollercoaster of a winter, let me tell you, full of too much snow and technological difficulties.

Mostly just too much snow.

But here we are, spring in full swing and not a snow day in sight! Today the Astronauts returned from a much anticipated and sorely needed Spring break; they're refreshed, happy, healthy, and ready for the last two month of the school year!

That's right. I said two months. Two. We have just eight weeks to do and learn a zillion more amazing things before the summer break starts. I practically go into shock whenever I think about it.

In the meanwhile, let's have a look at what we got up to during long winter months!

As usual, we've been hard at work learning...

...and doing cool things like drawing maps using our knowledge of legends and cardinal directions.

We had a visit from our friends Pastor Brenda and Danny...

...learned about space, and made models of the moon and its phases using Oreo cookies.

We were visited by a mysterious pen giving stranger, who taped these to my door after witnessing my board meeting doodling in all its infamy...

...made tacos...

..and read to one another!

We had our 100th Day of School celebration, and commemorated the occasion by painting 100 gumballs in a 'machine'...

...making structures using 100 marshmallows...

...eating ice cream with exactly 100 sprinkles...

...and blowing up 100 balloons!

We had another open store, where we saw some fantastic money choices and compromises being made.

On February 14 we celebrated Valentine's day by wearing pink and red...

...making heart shaped cherry pies...

...and exchanging Valentine's day cards and gifts!

We had Kim the Dentist give the Astronauts and our friends from Little Treasures Childcare a presentation on keeping our teeth healthy and clean...

...and celebrated Astronaut VS's birthday!

We did a study on the painter Piet Mondrian, learning about vertical and horizontal lines...

...and used what we learned to make Mondrian snowmen!

It's been a great few months - and this blog post only covered January and February! Next weekend I'll do another blog post about March and April, and that will get us all caught up to current events. Thank you so much for being patient through the long absence, and for following our amazing journey this year! I can't wait to show you what else we've gotten up to. Have an awesome (and hopefully warm) week, and I'll see you on April 26!

God bless,
Mia
